The night before, we planned to be up ‘early’ to head to Lac du Der-Chantecoq. I inquire as to what Sam and Audrey call ‘early’ and they say sometime after 10, but probably before lunch. Being the early riser that I am, I scoffed at this and expected I’d be awake well before 7. So for the first time in like forever I sleep for a solid 12 hours from midnight. Apparently I was tired. So we set off not long after lunch to collect some pasteries for our picnic. After walking around the lake for a bit we settle down to have lunch, at 4pm. Not that the time of day has any relevance to me right now, still totally clueless as to what timezone my body thinks it’s on.
From lunch in the forest it was off to the lakeside for birdwatching.
Time marched on and we thought about heading back to the car… But Sam had this thing about walking the same route twice, so we went back the long way:
And lucky we did, ’cause we were able to see a large collection of swans (bevy?).
Then the next day it was in to circus school… This is the kind of thing you can run into CouchSurfing with locals rather than staying with other tourists in a hostel. Sam and Audrey are studying at the National Center for Circus Arts and I was able to go along to watch a morning of training.
From there it was off into Luxembourg.
