A day trip to NZs most active volcano, just of the coast of Whakatane. Lived next to it for years, and now finally got around to getting out there (thanks for the Christmas present Dad).
First clear sighting of the Volcano

Elegantly setting foot upon the island

It got just ever so slightly steamy

The main crater “lake” – dry this month – an mostly covered in steam this day

Heading back away from the main crater

your photos of white island are great I have seen your photos for a while I think they are interesting
